
“My work is a direct expression of my emotional being. I do not shy away from communicating raw and changing states of mind through my pieces. In doing so I recognise that these states and emotions are not unique to me; my intention is to reach out so that others might understand and identify with what I have created.
As I give form to my ideas, I become aware of an act of will: it is the artist in me that is wrestling with and subduing the means at my disposal. I mould and shape the matter rather than being dominated by it.
I experiment with and discover new dimensions and properties in the base materials
I use. This opens out a world of possibilities and keeps me in a state of constant
investigation. I like to combine materials in order to establish communication between
them. The material I use most is clay. I understand it. I love it. Yet I recognise
its limitations. And so I seek what it lacks in metal, wood, thread or any other
raw ingredient which crosses my path. In this magpie fashion I create and re-
